Little Nightmares 2

The horror themed platform game which appeals to all.

This game is a 3D platformer which is based before the events of the first instalment. From the very beginning you’re surrounded by a very dark aesthetic, as you progress through the game as a young boy named Mono you will be faced with many puzzles and challenges which will test your overall intuition to overcome the obstacles.

Within the opening level you meet a young girl who then becomes a companion as you fight the first boss, showing you the ropes and generally allowing you to perform tasks that were out of reach before. After defeating the first boss you and your companion sail across a river escaping into a city. On the arrival you see houses tilting and bending towards the ocean further adding to the eery feeling that affects Mono as he progresses through a building onto an empty street. This is where you first see the overwhelmingly big signal tower which later plays a big part in the story line.

Throughout the game you see many different types of people that have all unique traits depending on the part you’re playing for example during one level you’re in a school which is filled with children made from pot and the teacher which is styled towards the older generation which used rulers to instil fear into the students, however when she discovers your presence, she mutates stretching her neck out to search around and or attack you. As the game progresses further and further into the game you realise that the girl also known as Six has a deep hatred towards you. After you took her away from the house she was imprisoned in she came to believe that you stole her from her safe space.

Nearing the end of the game, you are faced with someone you believe is the enemy ‘the tall man’ however upon finishing it you see that it was actually your future self-trying to save you from your companion that was inevitably going to betray you in the end after her feelings came into play. The reason I enjoyed this game so much was because it constantly kept you on your toes with new areas to explore, different tasks and obstacles to overcome, new bosses to fight and generally just the aesthetic combined with the graphics to give you an anxious feeling throughout. It also gave you the option of finding collectibles like different hats for Mono or ghosts of other children.
